Dames & Moore was a global engineering firm headquartered in Los Angeles, CA. It was acquired by the URS Corporation over May and June of 1999. By the time of the merger, the Dames & Moore group had a total of 7,800 employees in 30 countries.
Dames & Moore was an early pioneer in geotechnical engineering, performing geotechnical investigation from the early 1940s, though by the time of their acquisition, they had expanded their services across the entire range of civil engineering consulting and design work. D&M engineers developed several sampling techniques and samplers still used today.
D&M has been engaged in Indonesia since 1972 (klau ngak salah nih, Caltex deh project nya), and the first office of DMI was set at Tebet, Jakarta. For more three decades, the office, flourished with highly capable and talented people, had completed uncountable number of geotechnical and environmental works with excellent remark noted from the clients. Nevertheless, the URS Asia-pacific management team decided to close the Jakarta office on 31 Dec 2004 due to unknown reason (said to be due to bad performance)

Karyawan URS jadi berkurang gak ya dengan ditutupnya kantor Indonesia? Padahal tujuan awal merger kan memperluas usaha, eh ternyata malah tutup toko...
URS resmi tutup 31 Dec 2004. Tp aku/Grahame/Suri/Novyar (IT) tetep jd representative hingga Agustus 2005.
